When working with individuals who experience dementia, communication can be very difficult as the disease advances.  Forgetfulness, agitation, repetition, and mood fluctuations can make care stressful and frustrating.  This session will feature common communication problems caused by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and review strategies for better interactions.  Please be sure to also register with U of I Extension at go.illlinois.edu/2019LTC as we are only providing CEUs for this webinar.

Objective:

Identify communication problems related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

List two strategies to improve communication with individuals with Alzheimer’s.

Develop an action plan to enhance communication with individuals with Alzheimer’s.
