Description:
This presentation will discuss situations often faced by Health Care proxies. Once a crisis occurs, whether you have had prior conversation, as a proxy you can use basic steps to help you make decisions on someone else’s behalf.  If you make health care decisions for someone else, or might at some future point, this presentation will discuss how to make the hard decisions.
Objective:
1) Focus on ethical issues that you may face in your day-to-day practice and introduces some of the mechanisms you can use in order to resolve them.

2) Discuss each of the popular bioethical principles: autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice.

3) Describe the basic principles of confidentiality and truthfulness.

4) Describe the basic principles of autonomy and informed consent
