Description:
We all know that the pandemic has disproportionately affected people of color and lower income households. But what can we do about it? Expert presenter Karen Chan is offering these pro bono webinars with the goal of helping you help others to take advantage of the financial assistance that is available right now. Please use this information with whoever you serve, whether it’s clients, patrons, congregation members, friends, or family.

We’ll cover the Economic Impact Payments in detail, but that’s just the beginning. Filing income taxes for 2020 – even after the May 17 deadline – lets families claim refundable credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credits, as well as any additional money they could get from the three Economic Impact Payments. You'll also learn about help with rent, mortgages, the cost of health insurance, and student loans.
Objective:
  • Learn the types of financial assistance included in the American Rescue Plan.
  • Know where to go for more information or to apply for assistance.
  • Know the financial benefits of filing income taxes.
  • Help families claim any additional money due from the Economic Impact Payments.
