Course Objective:

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

1.         Identify and define the various chemical and process additions.

2.         Determine what assessment tools and techniques to use to effectively and efficiently treat specific addictions.

3.         Determine what specific older adult issues are and select "best" matched interventions.

4.         Apply treatments that work best with older adults.

Author Bio:
Robert Stenander, JD, CRADC, CCGC, is a counseling professional, retired from practice in Illinois.  Mr. Stenander previously served as counselor and corporate services clinician at the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Illinois.  Mr. Stenander is a certified compulsive gambling counselor by the American Compulsive Gambling Counselor certification board and has been actively treating gambling addiction since December 1999. He brings a unique prospective to the treatment of pathological gambling based upon his experiences, which are used to assist in the training of counselors.  His methodologies assist counselors in treating pathological gamblers in unique situations pertaining to finances, litigation and advocacy.
